As spiritual beings we tend to look far and wide seeking a reflection that is pure – longing to see our divine image in the face of other. Now is a good time to polish the mirror of our perceptions creating space for new creative thoughts to arise, a new self-image, and thus, a new projection of “reality”, or better yet a glimpse of the Ultimate Reality, Brahman.
Gemini is the sign of the twins representing our dualistic tendencies and the innate conflict of mind. And, as the old adage say’s, if you do not take time to mind the mind then the mind will mind you. Gemini is also known as the playful trickster and transformer, creatively shape-shifting our experiences to allow for the purest expression of self to be revealed.
The ruling planet of Gemini is Mercury, embodying the qualities of mental activity and communication. Mercury has dominion over the throat or vishuddha chakra, meaning pure; pure expression, truthfulness. In order to express ourselves truthfully we must know thyself first. We must reflect inward upon ourselves, becoming aware of our mental proclivities, innate urges, judgments, habitual behaviors, emotional tendencies and reactive nature in order to harmonize our personality and gain self-mastery.
Mercury is currently transiting through the sign of Taurus which brings a down to earth quality to an otherwise scattered energy. Making it an excellent time for creative focus and perseverance toward building and communicating greater value. And, with a sextile to Neptune we may be inclined to align with our ideals while visioning our dreams.
This lunation invites us to engage in more creative play and curious exploration. Anything that expands our horizon of awareness, especially inspirational study of sacred texts. For the purpose of identifying the one true self… to become self realized.
Yoga, in its essence, is about self-realization. To know the self we must practice self-reflection, called svadhyaya in sanskrit. The process of using sacred text as a mirror with which we reflect upon the “true” self… uncolored by inner emotions or influences of others. These three opening sutras of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali say it all…

1.2 Yoga is the control (regulation, mastery, integration, coordination, stilling, quieting, setting aside) of the modifications (gross and subtle thought patterns) of the mind field.
1.3 Then the Seer abides in Itself, resting in its own True Nature, which is called Self-realization.
1.4 At other times, when one is not in Self-realization, the Seer appears to take on the form of the modifications of the mind field, taking on the identity of those thought patterns.
By clearing the distortions in our emotional/mind fields, piercing through maya, the veils of illusion and building our spiritual vitality or prana we then clearly see the self, and thus, express our true nature…which is in essence love, unity, and expansion.
The manifestation of this new moon will culminate on Jun 9 in the sign of Sagittarius, the ultimate seeker. We seek for clarity, truthfulness, and transcendence. We elevate the lower chakras and rise up to meet our highest presence and our longing for divine communion is at last met…
