NEW MOON in CANCER: July 4, 2016 @ 7:00am at 12 degrees
As the Sun transits through the sign of Cancer we are naturally inclined toward returning – to coming home. There is often a desire to connect with our tribe, our family, and a place or feeling of comfort. Essentially, we are remembering our roots. When the Moon (the natural ruler of Cancer) joins the Sun here our urge or longing to nurture family ties and where we have come from grows stronger supporting our connection to self-purpose and direction. Our lineage is the scroll of our karmic imprint. It is where we access our encoded DNA and subconscious patterning.
Cancer reminds us to connect to our feelings, to be more attuned to the flow of life, and to receive the wisdom of our intuition. Cancer energy will do just about anything to feel secure, including clinging or attaching as a means of sustaining what it feels it needs. And, throughout this lunation, chances are, we will want to feel LOVED — ultimately leading us toward the power of SELF-LOVE.
The Moon/Sun are conjunct Venus/Mercury and opposing Pluto scratching at our insecurities and inviting us to redefine our values and needs from the inside out. What we most value tends to be that which we most cling to physically and mentally. Let’s use water as an example. Have you ever tried grabbing a hold of water? It’s nearly impossible. Since water is something we need, we learn that we quickly drink what we can and allow the rest to simply slip through our fingers. The more we accept what is and let go of trying to hold on, the more we tend to get what we truly need. This process is leading us back to ourselves, by releasing co-dependent tendencies and anchoring us into trust. Our greatest vulnerability tends to be our greatest strength.
When we don’t feel we have the support or security we need we may react with defensiveness. Venus gives us a boost of self-compassion and love so we can rise above our fears. We may also be inclined to give more to others as an expression of what we really need to be giving ourselves. The Pluto opposition can drive manipulative and passive aggressive behavior to get what we think we want or need. Do not push, do not pull, be like water and flow. We are attempting to balance the Cancer/Capricorn polarity of security and integrity. There may be a loss of something here and most likely we will have to let go of what we think we need in order to get what we truly need.
We’ve been on a path of surrender through most of this year, and now, just following the Summer Solstice in this new moon we are invited to go deeper into that process; to cultivate inner love and the strength of our integrity as a means of supporting our greatest values and intentions. We have an optimistic dreamy vibe supporting our ability to do just that. The Moon is sextile Jupiter expanding our devoted hearts and trine Neptune aligning us with our dreams as they merge with manifested reality. When we do things with consciousness and with care, we inevitably receive the bounty of goodness that comes from the gift of our sincerity.
REMEMBER that by taking good care of ourselves and possessing our truth we set ourselves up to thrive. Security is found in living true! Set your intentions and flow like water… we are being called home.

What am I attached to and why?
When do I become overly sensitive and defensive?
What do I cling to that if I had the courage to let go of I might actual open myself to receive?
