“That inner voice has both gentleness and clarity. So to get to authenticity, you really keep going down to the bone, to the honesty, and the inevitability of something.” ~ Meredith Monk
Everywhere we go there are a plethera of words buzzing for our attention ~ manifesting, opportunity, shift, expansion…it feels we are on the edge of something ~ something BIG. Many of us feel it in your bones and in our blood; we can see it in our friends and our coworkers. Some seem to be in a state of resistance while others appear ready to dive in, and yet, all the while we remain on the precipice; a place of holding attentive in presence,. The edge appears to be narrowing as we balance the many unknowns and our footing has less ground to stand on, making our lives feel more uncertain.
Now, more than ever, we need to call on the wisdom of clarity. To invite the powers that be, to discipline our mind, and purify our bodies so we can see with greater vision what step we need to take next toward our goal. The challenge in our process of seeking clarity is the idea that the process through which our clarity navigates is fixed. Life is everchanging and here we are trying to focus on a single fixed point.
Challenging, to say the least. And yet, each of us recognize the importance of focus. We know that one pointed vision toward a single goal is more likely to succeed than a mind scattered in many directions toward several goals. Sure we can attempt to arrange our array of goals toward one point, but is it truly focused? If you are succeeding then , yes, otherwise, it is likely your endeavors are spread too thin or your goals are too complex. Remember that clarity thrives in simplicity.
Clarity is a sadhana, a discipline. It is the pathway to samadhi, to God, to enlightenment. In our day to day lives, in our efforts to gain recognition, authority, expertise, etc. we must be disciplined and be willing to put in the time and effort, remaining consistently focused. Through focused attention and concentration we have a greater potential of reaching our goals and perhaps discovering the freedom we often seek in the process. We gain the ability to determin how our lives will unfold.
Perhaps it is time to see our daily efforts toward clarity as a spiritual practice. No matter what you are actually doing, so long as it is your chosen path, be focused, be clear and always steer in one direction. In doing so, you’re guiding your path with intention toward Divine, toward freedom and liberation.
“I experience a period of frightening clarity in those moments when nature is so beautiful. I am no longer sure of myself, and the paintings appear as in a dream.” ~ Vincent Van Gogh
